Vinner av Crocodile Trophy – Et av verdens tøffeste etapperitt

Greg Saw vant nylig etapperittet Crocodile Trophy i Australia.

– Today I met with an angry bull on stage 4. The black beast with horns wider then my handlebar charged at me. I jumped off my bike and took a few steps back off the trail to dodge the bull but unfortunately I ran into a stinging tree. I managed to finish the race third place and even had a laugh and joke about it. Not long after as the race adrenaline faded I began to burn from the stings. I am in extreme pain as it is right over my leg, arm and back. I have been to the hospital for a wax treatment, the worst part is that I may live with the pain for some weeks, even months!! I am in a state of shock from the severe pain and cannot think about tomorrow yet. I know sign on is at 7.30 am. The pain is so intense and there is nothing you can really do to stop the poison working. Actually I am not even typing this as I cannot stay still and cope with the waves of pain hitting me, I now know why traditional poisons can down large beasts. My Mother is editing and typing this and I will eat and try to sleep, forteller Saw på Facebook.

– Today was a long dry and rocky stage in the aussie bush. My stinging tree symptoms have lessened so it feels more like sunburn and not acid burn. I lost a minute.16 sec to my main rival who is the national champ of Canada and has raced the Croc a few times before. Most of that minute he gained was that I stopped to refill my water at the last station and he did not! what made it worse in the last 25 km I lost the cap on my flask and most of the water emptied so I was very dizzy the last 5 km. 2 more stage or marathons to go and 1 time trail I have some minutes advantage but 1 mistake or tech problem could easily lose that!

– The Crocodile Trophy has been 9 days overdosing on fantastic nature. Leading the international race for 8 long days was an incredible experience, a ride-race of a lifetime! Today I woke to hear my name on the ABC radio and in one hour I have a Japanese film crew visiting for their documentary I must thanks iHUS and Spiuk Norge for their support and of course my team hardrocx-ABAX. Great that a small bike company from Norway won Australia’s predominant stage race, skriver Greg på facebook etter å ha vinnet rittet.
